Children Of God

The idea that we are children of God would have been blasphemous by Jews in Jesus’ time. Jesus himself was frequently condemned by the Jewish leaders/high priests for claiming to be the Son of God.
This was considered claiming to be equal with God. This was true of Jesus but it certainly is NOT true of us.
Jesus taught His disciples to pray “Our Father” Abba Father. It is really hard to communicate just how radical an idea this is.
Likewise Muslims would see it the same. The idea of God having a son is utterly offensive. (Missionaries and translators would translate - “Son of God” Messiah.) To make it more palatable to Muslims.

However it may be hard for us to see just how radical/revolutionary this is because our culture (due to the historical Christian influence has swung wholly to the other extreme.
The fatherhood of God is assumed!
More than that - the UNIVERSAL fatherhood of God is assumed. - “We are all God’s children”
Nowhere in scripture is universal fatherhood of God affirmed.
We have value because we are created in the image of God - All people, every race, gender, religion, political outlook, sexual orientation/identity, etc.
But not all are children of God - special relationship, special privileges of Sonship.
In fact scripture says that we are by nature we are children of wrath.
