Hypocrisy, Guilt and Mercy

The Gospel of John presents very few technical or textual challenges, but the 8th chapter begins with one. The familiar story of the woman caught in adultery. It seems clear that it doesn’t belong here in John’s Gospel and likely doesn’t belong in John at all. But many accept that it nonetheless is inspired and worthy of our careful consideration. So we will learn three lessons: Hypocrisy, Guilt and Mercy.
