Passion (20) -- The Justice & Mercy of God in Christ

Behold the character of God in the events of the crucifixion of Jesus. Here we see vividly proclaimed the truth that God is the true God of burning holiness and inflexible justice and yet the God of infinite love and unfathomable mercy.

Hear the cry of abandonment of Jesus on the cross, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Friend, the answer is so that you will not have to face the unleashed fury of God's wrath against your sin yourself. Flee to Christ now for pardon and cleansing of all your sin.

Jesus was made a curse so that curse-deserving sinners like you and I might be set free; forsaken by God so that we might be received with full pardon. A pardon and freedom that will only be experienced by those who turn from their sins to Christ by faith. Call upon Him while He is near.
