Keys to the Passover

Keys to the Passover

Why, What, and Who did we celebrate this weekend? Why, from year to year, do we usually celebrate on a different day? How does the Lord's Supper come into view?

This is how we connected the dots this weekend from Exodus. (This is applicable for us — even when the calendar (like this year) for Easter and Passover don't exactly correlate.) We go back to the root of when these ways were established and to what and who they pointed toward.

Keys to the Passover

The Light
The Lamb
The Life
The Leaven

In those passages (Exodus 12 — 13) it refers to the father's taking the responsibility and lead. Also, it spoke of "a lamb" for a household and how the good news of God's redeeming Grace specifically speaks to each of us about "the Lamb" for a HEART, not a household. And how we need Jesus to work in us and birth life in our children.

And the Keys we talked about are:

We looked at the LIGHT that the Israelites had about the blood, a foreshadowing of the LIGHT of the gospel, and how that compared to the darkness of Egyptians. They had no clue of the lamb or the blood and the firstborn all perished. Also, the truth about the LAMB — and how the lamb was a foreshadowing of the Lamb of God — whose life and blood must be applied and consumed by every soul — not a household — for there are no grandchildren in God's kingdom, only new creatures in Christ Jesus.

We looked at the LIFE of the firstborn and they were preserved when the light was trusted and the lamb's blood was seen. And how all die in Adam, like the firstborn in Egypt — but we can have life in Christ's death — who took our place, tasted death by the grace of God, and who can make us alive unto God
