The God Who Repents!
Series Jonah
What does the Bible mean when it speaks the unchanging God repenting? Why are we told in the Book of Jonah that God repented of the evil he said he would do to Nineveh and did it not. Although the language seems strange, it is used to emphasise two basic facts that were relevant in Jonah's day and today. There is the encouragement from the fact that God's Pleasure in Showing Mercy to Penitents is Unbounded. There is warning and encouragement from the fact that God's Principles by which He Rules World are Unchanging. It is therefore good to read that our God is a God who repents.
