The fruit of the Spirit is goodness. God is good. Jesus is good. We are not good. We are born evil and commit evil continually, until and unless the Holy Spirit comes and dwells within us. Then, and only then, do we ever become good. Once the Spirit is in us, however, we will be good and do good.
