Spiritual Complacency & Worship Part 2

Thesis: Complacency is human nature, found throughout scripture and offensive to God. How do we fight the tendency to become comfortable in our situation and worship God in spirit and truth?

• Zephaniah warned of complacency during reforms
  of King Josiah (Zephaniah 1:12)
• Church of Laodicea complacent and received
  harsh warning from the Lord
• Solomon become comfortable with kingdom, wealth,
  abundance, turned to foreign delights and away
  from God.
• Solution is adherence to Book of the Law - God's
  Word. Deuteronomy 14:17-20
• Josiah turned to Lord, because of Book of the
  law - 2 Kings 23:25
• Josiah not indifferent to God's Word - 2
  Chronicles 34:19-33; took seriously and acted
  upon it.

CONCLUSION: We must be careful not to subtlely slip away from the Lord. If we dont stay in God's Word, it becomes easy to follow the world and abandon the things of God (Hebrews 2:1).
