This passage concludes the Book of Malachi, but also the Book of the 12 Prophets, but also of all the Prophets and finally, of the entire OT, tying together the Law and the Prophets in a divine manner. Malachi references Moses, Elijah and concludes the OT with the two words: "a curse."

The theme of this passage is simply this: prepare to meet the Lord and for the coming Messiah!
