Encouragement & Warnings

Continuing in the Apostle John's brief epistle, we learn how he seeks to strengthen the young and vulnerable church of his day. He warns about the coming time when many will not endure sound teaching, and tells them that a Day of Judgement is coming. The apostle stresses that each true believer is indwelt by The Holy Spirit, and he confirms that believers should know that the Gospel of Christ is true, going on to say that anything that contradicts what contradicts this gospel is a lie. His concern for those who are his spiritual children is evident, in that he stresses they should 'abide in The Son', believing that which they have heard 'from the beginning'. The Day of Redemption, he says, 'draweth nigh', and he reminds everyone that there is a promised day when Christ will return. Are you looking forward to that day?
