What Is The Gospel? (Part 4) - It Is a Message About Repentance and Faith.

The gospel is an authoritative summons to repentance and faith. Repentance is a fundamental 'about face' relative to self, sin and God. It is a turning from a self-oriented, self-pleasing way of life. Faith is a wholehearted, self-forsaking turning to Christ. Such penitent faith comprehends the renunciation of self-righteousness, self-sufficiency and sin and the unreserved embrace of all whom Christ has revealed Himself to be. Penitent faith is manifest by love for and obedience to Christ, the exclusive object of such faith. And penitent faith - the fruit of regeneration - is a continuing disposition in the Chistian, growing deeper, more vital and influential.
