The Crowning Achievement: Adam as Covenant Creature
Series Study in Genesis
Mr. Wagner zooms in on the sixth day of creation, where the let-us-make pause sets man apart as a special creation bearing the image of God. He defends the historicity of Adam from the genealogies of Luke 3 and Jude, argues against any evolutionary hominid pre-history, and develops the dominion mandate. He then introduces O. Palmer Robertson's definition of covenant — a bond in blood, sovereignly administered — and shows that even though the word berith is absent from chapter 1, the covenant of works is established with Adam under the threat of death for eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
