Elders in the church were exhorted to Shepherd, Serve, and Set an Example (1 Peter 5:1-4). Now Members are exhorted (especially in times of suffering persecution) to embrace attitudes of 1) Submission, 2) Humility, and 3) Dependence.
As Spurgeon proclaimed, "Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. Sinfully imagined cares we cannot cast on God! But then, obeying the precept, 'Humble yourselves,' would uproot such vexations! He who is down, need fear no fall."
