The Danger Of Simplistic Theology – Part 27 (A)
Series Trusting in God's Sovereignty
Job, after pointing out the flaws in Zophar's arguments. Previously, observed ideas in repudiating the danger of simplistic faith were: 1. Simplistic theology, attempt to silence sincere lament (1–6). 2. Simplistic theology cannot explain the reality of God's Sovereignty (7–16). But thirdly: 3. Simplistic theology misconstrues God's Providence (17–26). In countering Zophar's ill information arguments, Job points out four ideas concerning the unpredictability of divine providence: i) God's judgments are not always immediate (17 – 18), ii) God's judgment is mostly personal (19); iii) God's timing is His own or it's under His Sovereign control (20 – 21); iv) God alone knows how God acts (22) and lastly; v) God has given death as an equalizer for all peoples (22–26). Therefore, we must never attempt to define God and His dealings, with our feeble minds. Rather, we must let God be God. Ours is, yielding to His Lordship.
