Only the most desperate melancholics do not want to be happy.
I. The blessedness of the godly (verses 1-4)
(1) True happiness and predestination (Psalm 65.4)
(2) True happiness & redemptive restoration (Psalm 32.1-2)
(3)True happiness & the sanctified life (verse 1).
A. The life of those blessed is characterized by compassion.
B. Those showing consideration can expect preservation. (vv. 2-3).
C. Those who thus blessed confess their sins (verse 4).
II. The betrayal of the godly (verses 5-9)
A. David's betrayal. (verses 5-8)(verse 9a)(2 Samuel 15.31,17.23).
B. Christ's betrayal (Acts 2.23-24)(Psalm 16.8-11)(Acts 2.25-31)
III. The beautification of the godly (verses 10-13)
A. Triumph over enemies such as the world, the flesh and the Devil. (verses 10-11).
B. Sustaining right through trials, persecutions and even death to be in the light of God's countenance forever. (verse 12).
Conclusion
Our salvation from beginning to end is all of God.
