Paul's Trial Before Felix

The Sanhedrin's formal denunciation of Paul and Jesus' appearance to him affirmed that Jerusalem had filled up its guilt and now awaited its impending desolation. For many years Paul had labored as the Lord's apostle to the Gentiles, but now that calling would see him appearing before a sequence of Gentile rulers culminating with Caesar himself. Paul would indeed testify in Rome, but many steps and witness obligations lay between Jerusalem and the imperial capital. Caesarea and the Roman procurator of Judea was the first step in that long journey.
