Total Submission

This passage from Deuteronomy 17:8–20 establishes a foundational principle of divine order: no one, not even the highest ruler, is above the law of God.

It calls for the submission of all individuals to God-ordained judicial authority, emphasizing that true justice flows from divine revelation and must be obeyed without hesitation, lest the community be corrupted by rebellion.

The law further demands that the king, though invested with supreme power, must remain humble and obedient—prohibited from accumulating wealth, wives, or military might, and instead commanded to write and daily read God's law to cultivate a heart of reverence and faithfulness.
