True Hope, Renewal in Christ

Leadership can change many things but not the heart of those it leads. Nehemiah is a good case study for leaders but the best he can manage at the end of his tour of duty is ‘Remember what I have done Lord!’ He can see that the renewal he expected has not arrived. This is why the prophets are so important for us. Malachi goes to the heart of our problem—a problem with God. And he directs us to ‘the Messenger of the Covenant’, our Lord Jesus Christ, who establishes God’s covenant with us—sealed with his blood. This is how true renewal takes place and must be the basis for all our expectations.
