Forgiveness From the Cross

Jesus Asked the Father—to FORGIVE THEM… But, God doesn't just forgive sin—He has to punish it!... that's why Jesus was crucified. “Without the shedding of blood is no (forgiveness) of sin.” Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is DEATH…”

FORGIVENESS involves:

(1) PARDON – not to hold their sins against them… to release them from the guilt, shame, and punishment that their sins deserved.

Micah 7:18-19… “Who is a God like You, Pardoning iniquity and passing over the transgression…He does not retain His anger forever, Because He delights in mercy. He will again have compassion on us, And will subdue our iniquities. You will cast all our sins Into the depths of the sea.”

Jeremiah 33:8 … “I will cleanse them from all their iniquity by which they have sinned against Me, and I will pardon all their iniquities by which they have sinned and by which they have transgressed against Me.”

(2) COVERING THEIR SINS – “Blessed is he whose transgressions have been forgiven, whose sin is covered.” – ‘Father, treat them as if they had never sinned…'

Psalm 85:2 … “You have forgiven the iniquity of Your people; You have covered all their sin.” Psalm 51:1,9 … “Have mercy upon me, O God… blot out my transgressions… Hide Your face from my sins, And blot out all my iniquities.” (Heb 10:17) ‘…there sins and lawless deeds I will remember no more.'

Jesus Christ – so completely deals with our sins that God considers all who believe—as though we had never sinned and always obeyed—JUSTIFIED!
