Do Not Forsake the Covenant Assembly
Series The Book of Hebrews
In 10:22-25 the writer offers a profound call to faithful Christian living rooted in the finished work of Christ, emphasizing three interconnected imperatives: drawing near to God with full assurance of faith, holding fast to the hope of salvation grounded in God's faithfulness, and actively encouraging one another in love and good works.
But then in the second half of the third command the writer underscores the vital importance of corporate worship and fellowship, framing the assembly not as a mere social gathering but as a covenantal act of loyalty to God, essential for spiritual vitality and resistance to apathy or apostasy.
As the Day of the Lord draws near, the community is urged to remain united, recognizing that their collective worship and mutual edification are not optional but essential expressions of their shared hope and identity in Christ, pointing toward the eternal worship of the new heavens and new earth.
