Rejoice in the King

Psalm 149, similar to the Hallel Psalms, begins and ends with the exhortation, "Praise the LORD." God's people should not be known for restraining their praises. In fact, they gather to reflect on his workings and offer up worship, and, in the NT context, encounter him in the Word and Table. Because God is our King, we have reason to rejoice in every situation. In addition to praises, we are to engage in spiritual warfare using spiritual weapons (Eph. 6:11-18) and bring the gospel to the nations that they, too, may join in the praises of God. For the Christian, every aspect of our lives is to praise our Lord and Savior and King.
