Not Pleasing Ourselves

In the first half of Romans 15 Paul continues his explanation of the responsibilities involved with Christian liberty. The first responsibility he refers to is that of not pleasing ourselves, but rather pleasing our neighbor to his good and edification.

Paul goes on to explain that Christ is our example in this virtue, as in all others and finally 'heads off' the objection that his quotation is from the Old Testament, which argument the strong at Rome may be inclined to dismiss.
