The Church's Primary Duty

Paul's "First of all, then" is a declaration of the primary duty we have in the church. That duty is to pray. We are to pray for all sorts of people and especially for those who are civil rulers. We are not seeking a life of ease for ourselves but a situation that is conducive to the spread of the Gospel. Sermons, books and studies about prayer are useful but can never replace the actual duty--to pray. Begin to pray and learn as you pray.
