#8 Loving God's Children

It is quite easy to misunderstand what love for others looks like. Children fail to see their parents' love in discipline, and most often, so do church members under discipline.

Therefore, it is also quite possible to actually be loving people rightly, but then to question your love for them, and your own Christ-likeness.

[MP1] But, John says we can "Know that we love the children of God."

[MP2] Why is it important that we know our love is true?
Love for God = Love for God's people. The two sides are connected integrally connected so that you can't have one without the other.
Our love for other Christians does two things:

1. It reveals our love for God,
2. It reminds us of God's love for us.

[MP3] So how can we know if we are being truly loving?

1. If we love God, we will keep His commandments.
2. His commands will not be burdensome (love is never a burden).
