Is self-esteem teaching compatible with the Bible? Not a chance! God's Word says, "you will remember your evil ways and your deeds that were not good; and you will loathe yourselves in your own sight, for your iniquities and your abominations" (Ezek. 36:31). Robert Schuller, James Dobson, and a multitude of men like them promote pride, self-worth, self-love, and self-esteem as "man's greatest neeed" in sharp contrast to Biblical, Spirit empowered, humble, repentant, self-loathing. Psychologized ministries and false teachers are profoundly popular and influential today. The Gospel undermining impact of their self-esteem paradigm is far reaching.
