No Dishonor

As the events of this final Passover seem to spiral out of control, God shows that He is still at the helm. The betrayal, the unjust trials, the abuse, the crucifixion, and Jesus' death may suggest that Jesus' fate was entirely in the hands of men. But then, there is a break in the pattern. Convicted criminals in those days lost all rights to a decent burial, but Jesus did not suffer this dishonor. Who's really in control here? It seems as if God said to his enemies, "This far, but no further." The crucifixion of Jesus was not accident; it was the greatest premeditated act of love in the history of the world.
