The Fullness of Christ's Gospel

Mr. SPURGEON: The early Christians were known to think and talk far more of our Saviour than we do. Some of them were, perhaps, not quite so clear upon justification by faith as they ought to have been, but they were very clear about the merits of the precious blood. And if they did not always speak very clearly about the doctrines of grace, they spoke with wonderful power and savour about the "five" wounds— about the nail marks and the spear wound. I could wish that our religion would go back somewhat more to that personal apprehension of Christ than it does. MTP, Vol 59, #3385
