The Man of Sorrows

As Handel's treatment of Messiah in the midst of His passion progresses, this message takes up the text that presents the Lamb of God in yet another specific view. He is the One acquainted with grief. There is hope for every grief-stricken soul in the Person of the Sympathetic Savior. Christ was abandoned by those He had chosen to be His friends, but He did not abandon them in their hour of desperate need. He is the source of strength in the midst of weakness, the source of comfort in the face of adversity.
