Jesus Christ Is Gathering His Church

Acts 2:36–47 (with emphasis on 2:40–47) reveals the powerful beginning of Christ gathering His Church through the proclamation of the gospel, the work of the Holy Spirit, and the response of faith and repentance. After Peter boldly declares Jesus as both Lord and Christ, those who hear are "cut to the heart," leading to repentance, baptism, and incorporation into a growing community of believers. This passage highlights that the Church is not built by human effort but by Christ Himself, drawing people through His Word and Spirit into a covenant community marked by teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread, prayer, generosity, and unity. The continual growth—"the Lord added to their number daily"—demonstrates that Jesus is actively and sovereignly gathering, nurturing, and sustaining His Church, fulfilling His redemptive mission by forming a distinct people devoted to Him and to one another.
