Learning… to Lean and Lead

"Learning… to Lean and Lead"

Here are seven heart-postures we can learn from Jehoshaphat's and Joshua's example:

  1. Re-evaluate the problem in the presence of God.

Before calling a council of generals, Jehoshaphat turned his face toward the Lord (v.3). When fear crept in, he fought it by seeking God.

Nugget: Before you run to your phone, run to His throne.

  1. Retreat to prayer, not panic.

He called the whole nation to fast and pray. There was no backup plan—only a desperate plea for God to move.

Nugget: When life overwhelms, don't try to fix it let God fix you for it.

  1. Recall the past faithfulness of God.

Jehoshaphat remembered what God had already done—how He delivered His people and fulfilled His promises.

Nugget: Sometimes your greatest strength in the present is fresh reminder of God's faithfulness in your past.

  1. Rest in the promises of God.

He reminded God of His Word: "Didn't You say that if we cry out to You, You'll hear and deliver?" (v.9)

Nugget: God's promises aren't just words on a page—they're living anchors for your soul.

  1. Recognize your own powerlessness.

Jehoshaphat didn't sugarcoat it. He admitted, "We have no power, and we don't know what to do."

Nugget: Humility is the rocket to His victory. God works best when we humbly trust and stop trying to work alone.

  1. Refocus your eyes on God's providence.

He ends with one of the most beautiful confessions in Scripture:
"But our eyes are on You." That's not a last resort. That's the first step to seeing a miracle.

Nugget: Faith isn't about having all the answers. It's about trusting the One who does.

  1. Rest your life and steps in God's Plan (v.20)

Nugget: Rest comes when we come
