The Salvation of God Sent to the Gentiles
Series Exposition of Acts
In this week's passage, Acts 28:25-31, as we come to the end of the sequential exposition of Acts, we have a passage that in one way summarizes all of Acts: Jesus came to His own and His own would not receive Him, so the gospel went to the Gentiles. From when Peter and John are beaten for preaching the gospel to the Jews trying to rip Paul limb from limb in Jerusalem, Acts has been about removing the Jews from being the people of God and the establishment of a new people of God, the church. Luke ends the book by recording Paul saying to the Jews that they had closed their eyes and stopped their ears, so that they would not be converted and for that reason "the salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles." Because the Gentiles would hear. Let's be fearful of stopping our ears and closing our eyes to the truths of God's word for if He would not spare the natural branches, He may not spare us either.
