Don't Speak Against One Another

Following on from the one another duty to live in peace is the prohibition, "Do not speak against one another." (James 4:11) This prohibition is examined in terms of what exactly is being forbidden.. The problem with speaking against one another is considered in 4:11b. Then the prerogative which is God's alone and uniquely is identified in 4:12a. Finally the presumption ("but who are you who judge your neighbor?", 4:12b) of setting oneself against and above the law is described.
