5,000 fed... No One Earned It! Works based salvation vs. His Gift of Salvation

While pastor Chronister recovers from surgeries for severe kidney issues, we are honored to introduce you to a new young pastor. Daniel Bird has studied for years under pastor Chronister and has started Rooted Community Church here in Anchorage.

We start in Mark 6:33-44, the feeding of the 5,000. This is the only miracle recorded in all four gospels. Now, this pastor Could do what all pastors do with this verse. The applicational, simple stuff. But this pastor wants us to look deeper. He called Pastor Chronister for help with this and got absolutely buried with stuff. That's what he does. So, this week we will focus on the bread. We also pull in the feeding of the 4,000.

We start with the similarities in the Gospels. And here we go. This young man takes the time to give us a bunch of scriptures. Then he goes over some differences. You find out a lot when you do this. As he lists the obvious differences, he tells us, the difficult part is to figure out the importance of the differences. So, Bible Study 101... you go to the first mention of bread in Genesis 3:19. Did the 4,000 or the 5,000 have to go out and get the "sweat of your face" bread? Now on to Exodus where people grumbled about being hungry. What did the LORD God do then? He gave them bread. There's much more to what this pastor includes, so you'll want to listen carefully.

Now we go back and pick up more details. Sound familiar? This pastor has learned from the best! This is a picture of the free salvation that Jesus gives. He is the Bread of Life. The Living Bread.

Well... Now you know... There is another Advanced Class out there.

Tune in next week... We think this is going to be a three-parter at least!
