Judges: Cycle of Disobedience

INTRODUCTION: Judges, chapter one, acts as a transition between Joshua and Judges. Chapter two of Judges introduces the pattern of disobedience, destruction, and disobedience that spans the entire book. Israel, in the book of Judges, offers a picture of the defeated, carnal Christian. They mixed other gods with the true God. They followed the practices of the world. They sought God only when they were in trouble. In other words, they were the epitome of everything God’s people should not be.
