Human Scheming vs. God's Will

The sermon idea in this message is, "It is wicked and futile to rebel against the revealed will of God." In this passage all four of the major characters are guilty of doing this: Isaac, Esau, Rebekah, and Jacob. Yet in spite of their sins, God's declared purpose prevailed in Gen. 25:23 was being carried out. Isaac "'trembled violently" (v. 33) when he came to this realization. Jacob was just as sinful as Esau, yet God's sovereign grace later would seize and change him. We, too, were rebels, seized upon by the gracious love of God.
