Watch and Pray

The purpose of this sermon is to remind us that every one who belongs to Christ has an enemy. This enemy hates us intensely and earnestly desires to destroy our souls. We can take great comfort in the assurance that The Revelation gives us that Christ has marked us and that nothing can ever erase His seal from us. He will hold us secure to the end. But we must also understand that we have an enemy, that his hatred for us is remarkable, and that he is incredibly subtle and deceitful. We are in a war and Satan would like nothing better than to destroy our souls. We must watch and pray. Religion without Christ merely sweeps up the room and makes it more habitable for Satan. Mere morality does precisely the same thing.
