Jesus’ last public address:
First, the warning to the disciples and crowds, 1-12
The scribes and Pharisees were:
#1: Control-seekers, 3-4
#2: Praise-seekers – 5
#3: Pre-eminence-seekers, 6-7
Jesus commanded the people and the disciples:
#1: Don’t seek pre-eminence for yourselves, 8, 10
#2: Don’t recognize pre-eminence in others, 9
#3: Don’t place yourselves above others but instead serve them, 11-12
Second, the denunciation of the scribes and Pharisees, 13-36
The scribes’ and Pharisees’ hypocrisy resulted in:
#1: False salvation, 13
How the scribes and Pharisees blocked the people from salvation:
