Living as Victors

The Christian life is a battle. We battle a world that opposes God and His gospel; and we battle a world within ourselves, a natural disposition that resists God’s ways. But we do well to remember that Jesus has overcome the world, and our faith in Him guarantees our participation in His victory. “And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.” 1 John 5:4 (NKJV) This victory we share with Jesus is not only our heavenly future, but a present reality of conquering the world’s ideals and enticements day by day. Faith in Christ -- genuine love toward Him -- conquers the enslaving power of the world to be our supreme treasure.
