Why Do We?
I love the revelation and insight we find Jacob sharing with his family... such wisdom and goodness that's right in step with the plan of God. This is what he shared:
"Now when Jacob SAW (heard) that there was bread in Egypt, Jacob said unto his sons, 'Why do you continue to look to one another?'" Genesis 42:1.
They were all in the same boat and needed help... it was sinking fast. But they didn't have what they needed in the boat with them. No matter what they tried, while within the boat, it wouldn't provide what they needed to survive. They had to seek help from outside of their boat. And that's exactly what God had planned through the famine. Jacob pointed them toward God's answer.
He planned and purposed their need and tragedy to get them to a place where they were willing to seek help from someone and a place unfamiliar to them and those in the boat with them…
