There's nothing new under the sun

Many people know the expression 'there's nothing new under the sun', but have no idea that it comes from the Bible.

Here is the opening of King Solomon's great experiment with life and enjoyment and his conclusion that 'all is vanity', with the observation that there is 'nothing new'.

Is this true? Examine the evidence and you'll find that when it comes to what really matters, it certainly is.

This is a truth which seems depressing, and it does warn us, but when we understand the gospel of God's grace, it encourages us too - to look beyond what is 'under the sun' to what is eternal and unfailing.
