"How Could A Loving God Kill His Son?"

Isaiah 53 presents the suffering Servant, Jesus Christ, as the divine, voluntary sacrifice whose crucifixion was not an accident but the sovereign plan of God the Father, who delighted in crushing His Son to atone for humanity's sins. The passage reveals that Christ's death was not a violation of divine love but the ultimate expression of it, as the eternal Son willingly laid down His life in obedience to the Father, bearing the wrath due to sinners and securing salvation for those who believe. Far from being a tale of divine cruelty, the cross is the foundation of a gospel that includes the resurrection, the only means of reconciliation with God, and the power of God to transform lives. The sermon confronts the objection that God's pleasure in Christ's suffering is unloving by affirming that this truth is only understood through the Holy Spirit's illumination, as the message of the cross remains foolishness to the lost but the power of God to the saved. Ultimately, the call is not to defend God's character in human terms, but to repent, believe, and look to Christ alone as the only sufficient Savior, for salvation is by grace through faith, not by works, and is still available to all who turn to Him.
