Let's talk about.

Joshua 9… had they been diligent to inquire of the Lord, yes, as a principle of priority, they would have acknowledged Him, as He requires of all His people, and He, no doubt, would have exposed these bottom feeders for who they were.

This costly deal with the Hivites will haunt them and some of their people for many years to come (2 Samuel 21). Remember this… it's an everlasting principle that God used Moses to teach and reinforced with Jesus' teaching of why God used manna to humble His people for those 40 years. "Man shall not live by bread alone; but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God." Deuteronomy 8:3; Matthew 4:4

What God says about a thing is more important than the thing itself because He taught them how to depend upon Him when He fed them the manna for that period. It wasn't the manna that sustained them. It was God who sustained them because if they didn't follow His ways to collect the manna, the manna wouldn't profit them. It wouldn't be any good for them. So what was God doing? He said, " I was humbling you, teaching you that man was not to be dependent upon the manna, the bread, but what I said." And what I said is most important.

For Joshua and these men — yesterday's triumph in Ai — cannot REPLACE — a fresh word of truth and grace for today's victory with those who attempt to dupe us into believing the lie.

But, God, who works everything together for the good of those that love Him and are the called to His purpose is the one who moved these kings into place for Joshua to overthrow and conquer them. And this time Joshua seeks God for His answers and victory Joshua 10.
