Good News in the Midst of the Bad News

This section in John seems to have taken an unexpected turn. We have been looking at the love of God. An Eternal Love that drew us, grafted us in and provides for us. As we abide, we will bear fruit. We will keep His commandments, love the brethren, and have His Joy in our hearts. It is a sad commentary that in the midst of this life of fellowship with God, Jesus stops to warn us of the coming storm of hatred. Last week we looked at this hatred. Yet in this coming storm, there is encouragement, hope and the promise of abiding in Christ, bearing fruit and being filled with His Joy remains. As we finish the warning this week, we want to look at the good news in the midst of the storm of persecution.
