Paul Must Wait on God While on Trial

Paul's brought to another trial & now must be tried w/his accusers laying out their accusations against Paul.

  • vs. 1-4 is Tertulls' tactics which include flattery.
  • vs. 5-9 the charges against Paul, calling him a pest.
    1.) Causing the Jews to up rise & revolt.
    2.) He violated the sanctity of the Temple.
    3.) He was a ring leader of a radical religious sect.
  • vs. 10-21 is the defense (testimony) of Paul.
    1.) Paul calls the charges false & points out they're hard to prove or disprove.
    2.) He's done his best to keep his conscious clean before God & man.
    3.) Because he's bound by Christ, he had to speak out in defense of the resurrection of the dead.
  • vs. 22-27 is The Delay of Felix.
    1.) Luke doesn't outline why Felix delays or how he knew about "the Way" (the way to Jesus).
    2.) Felix is studying who Christ is, possibly through his wife who was raised a Jew.
    3.) Felix spends 2 years with Paul talking about Jesus. This leads Felix to fear many things including righteousness & the coming judgement.
  • Felix liked Paul & would have let him off w/a bribe but Paul was above that.
  • We don't know why Paul was delayed for 2 years.
  • Luke doesn't indicate that Paul was frustrated by the delay.
  • Waiting requires patience from God, with God and others.
  • God orders our steps & our stops.
