Watching Him Closely

At a Sabbath lunch, the Pharisees again tested Jesus to find fault with Him, but He was the one to find fault with the Pharisees and their lawyers. Would Jesus heal this man on the Sabbath? Of course He would, just like any of those religious leaders would themselves act mercifully out of familial or commercial interests. But Jesus acts not for personal interest but to show compassion to the sick man and to expose the hypocrisy of the Pharisees so that they and their followers might repent and believe Jesus’ words.
