What's the Mission?

We get to witness a magnificent scene this morning. We get to hear the official announcement that God's Anointed has arrived and is setting about His Messianic mission. Taking the scroll and reading Isaiah 61, He declares that He is the One for whom Israel has been waiting ever since the call of Abraham. He is here, and He both exceeds and transforms His people's expectations. With God's help, I will show you that Jesus goes to synagogue and announces that His mission is to be the great prophet sent by the Father and anointed by the Spirit to preach good news to the poor.
