Beware of Super-Spiritual Religion

When forms of religion concentrate primarily on man and his attempts to rise to God, they end up focusing on morality, on rituals, and on experiences. They concentrate on man's efforts. It may look super spiritual to abstain from certain foods and drinks, or to deny yourself of certain activities, or to have special days of worship but Paul warns us to not fall for that, however tempting it may be. True spirituality simply rests on Christ's finished work so we don't need to look to add anything to that to be 'spiritual,' or to have right relation with God.
