Paul Testifies Before Agrippa II (Pt 5)
Series Acts of the Apostles
This class shows how Paul spoke about repentance as part of the gospel when he testified before Agrippa in Acts 26. We trace the theme of repentance through Luke/Acts. Early in Luke John the Baptist preached repentance as preparing for God's coming One.
In Luke 24 Jesus included repentance as a theme in His commission of the apostles. In Acts 2 Peter preached repentance in his sermon on Pentecost. Here Paul is still preaching repentance when he testifies before King Agrippa.
We discuss the meaning of repentance and how true repentance as part of responding to the gospel is a gift of grace. Repentance in this context is not a work of man to prove superior piety, but truly turning from serving darkness and Satan to serving Christ and His light.
It is a change of spiritual domains accomplished by God's grace. We also look at Messianic salvation as predicted in Isaiah 53. The substitutionary atonement that would be accomplish by Jesus Christ was predicted centuries before it happened in history.
The gospel is not about making things better through political accomplishments, but being rescued by God from the path to eternal destruction.
