FROM COLD RELIGION TO WARM COMPASSION. Luke 7:45 (KJV) This sermon confronts the danger of loveless religion. Jesus contrasts Simon's cold formality with a repentant woman's extravagant affection, revealing that genuine love always expresses itself. Affection is not weakness—it is evidence of a transformed heart. When the church moves from distance to devotion, from routine to relationship, hearts are softened and lives are changed.
The Heart God Designed for Relationships calls the church to reflect God's heart by replacing rejection with acceptance, coldness with affection, criticism with appreciation, disapproval with grace-filled approval, and neglect with intentional attention—so that our relationships mirror the way Christ loves us.
Luke 7:45 teaches us that affection is the evidence of a heart transformed by grace. Where forgiveness is real, love will be visible. Where love is absent, religion becomes cold and distant.
Jesus is not impressed by correct form without warm affection. He is honored by hearts that love deeply because they have been forgiven fully.
