            2.  God’s way of getting our attention

            3.  God’s method of training, not punishing

B. GOD is doing something

            1.  The discipline of the LORD

            2.  The character of the Lord

                            a.  Holy

                            b.  Wise

                            c.  Powerful

C. God is doing something FOR OUR GOOD

            1.  Confirmation:  who I am in Christ?

            2.  Correction:  what have I done that’s wrong?

            3.  Preservation:  what I can’t handle
