Weep for the Lost

Many people have a weepy and sentimental view of the crucifixion of Christ and sympathize with His suffering without acknowledging his Glory or the victory He won on the Cross.
Jesus specifically told the women of Jerusalem not to weep for Him. Why did he do that, and who should we weep for?
